‘Deadliest Catch’ Jake Anderson Mourns Loss Of Longtime Friend

This week’s episode of Deadliest Catch was a tragic one for Jake Anderson. The captain was out on the F/V Titan and was struggling with some strenuous labor and varying temperatures that made the chance for an unlucky trip out crab fishing more likely. However, none of that matters when Jake gets a call from his wife with some tragic news.

Here is what happened to Jake and how it affected his current status on Deadliest Catch.

Jake Anderson Mourns Loss Of Friend On Deadliest Catch

On the most recent episode of Deadliest Catch, Jake Anderson received a call from his wife, Jenna. She was in tears as she told him that his close friend Tom Brossard had died. Brossard was not only a close friend but also his long-time engineer on the F/V Saga, Anderson’s former vessel.

Jake worked with Tom while he was reconstructing the F/V Saga, and the two remained close. Accoding to Jenna, Tom died of a sudden heart attack. Jake then broke down and called Tom his “best friend.” She then said they took him to the hospital, but “he didn’t make it.”

Tom died in January 2024, at the age of 64, while in the Philippines. He had been living there with his wife, Josephine Brossard, and his family. In addition to his wife, Tom leaves behind a son, Tommy Hodo, and two daughters, Jasmine and Sarah. He was also a grandfather to three grandchildren: Willow, Devin, and Nova.

The fact that Jake was in the middle of filming Deadliest Catch was sad. He had to keep working and filming while learning he had just lost one of his closest friends. Jake called the crew down to break the news to them. He remembered the days when the two of them worked on rebuilding the F/V Saga from “bow to stern.”

“We rebuilt the bow, we rebuilt the stern, we rebuilt the bathroom, we rebuilt the floors,” Jake said in the episode.

Who All Has Died From Deadliest Catch?

Tom Broussard wasn’t the first person to die when it comes to the Deadiest Catch crews. There have been over 10 deaths that have taken place, which helps the show live up to its name.
